Improv Your Faith
Rev. Washam and our Christian Ed Department would like to offer you a 2-part series in Christian Discipleship, Biblical Interpretation, and Church Leadership under the title “Improv Your Faith,” led by Rev. Tom Wiles. Over the last several years Tom has presented on this topic to other congregations and pastors as well as to regional and national denominational leaders.
When reflecting on our topic Tom writes, “Faithful disciples for today’s and tomorrow’s church must serve and lead with both freedom and faithfulness. They are to be gifted improvisors. Surprisingly, disciplined faithfulness is not confining; instead it is filled with opportunities for freedom and improvisation. Christ followers who are well grounded in their values, goals, and missional narratives do not merely repeat what has been said and done in the past. They say things in new ways. They look in new directions. They move into fresh expressions of faith. They extend the narrative in ways that open new opportunities for ministry and service. The skill of improvisation provides a model for moving creatively and faithfully forward into God’s mission.”
Each session will be one hour, with 45 mins of program and the last 15 mins for Q&A.
The first session will be on Sunday, May 16th, from 10-11 am,
